Hachiyama Junior High School : Coffee Lecture
Date:2026.01.22

Hachiyama Junior High School in Shibuya Ward collaborated with JOE TALK COFFEE, which also has a shop in Shibuya, to hold a coffee-brewing workshop for junior high school students.

Using Malawian coffee as the theme, Seibo’s representative, Yamada, first introduced Malawi in another class, explaining the coffee-producing regions, production methods, and the story and business model in which coffee sales are used to support school meal programs. Following this lesson, the coffee-brewing workshop was conducted.

Through this series of learning experiences, the students of Hachiyama Junior High School were able to learn concrete ways to enjoy coffee as well as the background behind it, making the event a very meaningful one.

Through the ritual of brewing coffee, students and members of a local café came together, and through the activities of the NPO, they were able to connect across borders with children and communities in the coffee-producing regions.

Seibo will continue to value its connections with the local community and its relationships with students, and will keep expanding its activities going forward.
