Seibo provides school meals to 17 CBCCs (Community-Based Childcare Centres) in Blantyre, Southern Malawi.
CBCCs represent some of the poorest communities we support. Instead of professional teachers, staff members known as “Community Members” cook the daily meals and conduct basic lessons.
While teaching children the alphabet, numbers, and songs, they also dedicate their time to preparing and serving food during lunchtime.
Many of these communities are located in remote mountainous areas with very poor accessibility.
Delivering school meals to these hard-to-reach communities is one of Seibo’s most vital missions.

・Mptola CBCC

Today, we would like to highlight Mptola CBCC and introduce a dedicated student who is currently fundraising to cover the entire cost of this school’s meals for a whole year.
Located west of Blantyre in Malawi, Mptola CBCC operates within a community led by the village chief, Mr. Chalamanda.
The centre is run purely on the community members’ deep-rooted desire to support their children, and it is currently looked after by 4 passionate caregivers.
There are 40 children registered at the centre.
To provide daily meals for all of these children for an entire year, it costs approximately 120,000 yen.
By securing this support, we do not simply guarantee daily nutrition for these children. We also give parents the motivation to send their children to school and create an environment where the kids can play energetically and focus on their studies.
This is a critical step in early childhood brain development and preventing malnutrition, which heavily impacts their future growth and academic success.
Let’s join hands to support Mptola CBCC!
・A Message from the Student Supporting the Fundraising Campaign
We are thrilled to collaborate on this project with a student from Marist Brothers International School in Kobe.
Here is his comment and his passion for this initiative:
“I, a high school student in Japan, am taking action to support children in Malawi by raising money to provide school meals. After learning about the challenges that many children face, including hunger and limited access to education, I was eager to find a way to help beyond simply learning about this issue.
Through this project, I will be working with Seibo Japan to support meal funding for children in Malawi.
School meals are important because they not only provide nutrition but also encourage children to attend school and focus on their studies. For many children, one meal at school can make a meaningful difference in their daily lives.
I am specifically trying to support the Mptola CBCC in Malawi by raising money to provide school meals for children. The cost of one meal is only ¥15 per child, meaning that even a small donation can help make a real difference. In order to provide meals consistently, we are aiming to raise enough money to cover the required feeding costs for the community.
Through this fundraising project, I hope to help children in Mptola receive the nutrition they need to attend school, focus in class, and grow in a healthier environment.”
