On May 12th, Mr. Yamada, representative of the non-profit organization Seibo, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Naito, Ambassador of Japan to Malawi.

They held a very fruitful discussion covering various initiatives bridging Malawi and Japan across business, charity, and education. Ambassador Naito expressed particular interest in the nationwide expansion of the educational project utilizing Malawian coffee. During the meeting, Mr. Yamada presented him with samples of the coffee currently used by partner schools and corporations.

Later on May 12th, Ambassador Naito visited Seibo’s school feeding program sites in Mzimba, northern Malawi. During his visit, he inspected the wells and kitchen facilities at the primary schools where Seibo provides daily school meals.

Following the visit, Ambassador Naito shared the following message:

“The partnership between Seibo Maria and the Embassy of Japan is taking shape. Kitchens will be set up at Macherecheta, Chabere, and Kanyerere Primary Schools, providing children with warm meals.

The strong bond between Mzimba and Japan will continue to flourish, making this project a new milestone. Seibo’s decade-long dedication to providing school meals to schools in Mzimba is a testament to their commitment.

Let us all play our part to ensure the success of this project and contribute to the development of Malawi. The friendship between Malawi and Japan, moving forward with full commitment, is something truly worth watching.”
