Attend Moodle Moot Conference 2026
Date:2026.03.01

Seibo participated in the Moodle Moot Conference together with Professor Brendan, a board member of Seibo and faculty member at Saga University.
During the conference, we provided coffee catering throughout the three days of the event. In addition, on the final day, we delivered a presentation highlighting our activities and initiatives.

・The Journey of Seibo and the Internship Course

Until now, we have conducted an online course using Google Classroom. In this course, we introduced the origins and significance of our activities in Malawi, the social business model that sustains these efforts, and examples of initiatives created through collaboration with various organizations and individuals.

As a final outcome, students were asked to propose their own activity plans and implement them in practice.
Upon completion of the course, participants receive an internship certificate. To date, we have welcomed and graduated more than 40 students from this program.

In addition, approximately two students per month come from overseas universities as dispatched interns, and they also take part in our activities.
Through these initiatives, an increasing number of students across Japan have achieved concrete academic outcomes and successfully graduated.

・Challenges So Far and the Road Ahead

Through this journey, we at Seibo have been truly grateful for the growing opportunities to engage with so many students.

At the same time, we began to feel certain practical limitations in continuing to offer regular live online classes. In order to ensure sustainability, we started exploring the development of high-quality on-demand video content and a flipped classroom model—where videos are interactive and allow students to submit questions and engage in dialogue.

We have also begun considering how to systematically store and analyze data from graduates, currently enrolled students, and volunteer participants. By building this database of records and experiences, we aim to enhance the quality of our services and courses in the future.

For these reasons, with the generous support of Professor Brendan of Saga University and Professor Martin of Nayoro City University, we have decided to introduce Moodle and begin offering courses through the Moodle platform.

Presentation at the Conference

After explaining this background, we shared that Seibo is currently developing a Moodle course and preparing for its release. We also announced that we are actively seeking collaborators, participants, and registered members.

〈Main Topics Covered〉

・Introduction to NPO Seibo and our partners
・Background and reasons for introducing Moodle
・The unique collaboration between academia, an NPO, and domestic and international interns
・The process of developing the Moodle course

Our future vision
Through this presentation, we announced the launch of an online course that will directly contribute to school meal support in Malawi. As part of our future vision, we also shared our commitment to continuously improving the quality of the course while expanding our community of donors and collaborators.

On the day of the conference, students from Shizuoka Salesio Junior High School, Seibo’s intern from the United States, and students from Sophia University also participated.
