An Invite to visit Malawi's No.1 CBO!
Date:2021.02.25

Malawi Woman Power in Action
In the summer of 2018 Seibo’s donors helped support one of Malawi’s most active Community-Based Organisations- Kurya Ndiko Uko. The organisation which is ran by 27 widowed ladies is chaired by the charismatic Lexah Mkwandawire. One part of the CBO’s activities is to run an orphanage catering for orphans, the poor and those affected with HIV. In addition the CBO run a bakery and use the income generated from trading to support the children in their care with food and learning materials and clothes. In January 2021 Seibo donated 800kgs of food to assist with school meals at the CBO’s orphanage.

About Kurya Ndiko Uko
Many Seibo donors will be familiar with the work of Kurya Ndiko Uko. Beginning in 2014 in addition to the bakery the all-female group also construct toilets (thanks to the water well supplied by Seibo donors) as well as sew clothes for sale. Today they care for 47 children under the age of 5 and pay the wages of 4 trained teachers of which one teacher is qualified to teach children with special needs.
While our donation of 800kgs of food stuff in January is but a drop in the ocean we will continue to report on and support Lexah and her ladies initiatives and plans to increase the intake of children at their nursery & orphanage.

Your Invitation!
The ladies at Kurya Ndiko Uko conveyed their gratitude for the support given and asked us to extend an invite to all Seibo donors & supporters to come visit and experience for yourself the many great things that are happening in Northern Malawi! The ladies at Kurya Ndiko Uko personify the warmth for which Malawi is famous but also carry out life transforming work. Once again we thank our donors for the privilege of being able to use their support to make a difference in people’s lives. We don’t take your kindness for granted and we once more wish to express our gratitude on behalf of the children of Malawi.
