Nursery Intro Series- Tilitonse- 12
Date:2015.12.09

School feeding Start Date: 15th April 2016
Tilitonse Nursery, Nthukwa
Tilitonse Nursery in Nthukwa is a nursery of 36 children. The ages of the children range from 2 to 5 years old. As a CBCC, the nursery is a registered nursery. 4 caregivers operate the nursery on a rota. More often than not 3 are on duty.
Unlike Mwayi CBCC in Sigerege, Tilitonse nursery is held in a brick house. The roof has some holes and the walls are pretty unkempt, but it is sturdier in appearance to Mwayi’s reed enclosure.
There is a tap to utilize and storage and preparation areas are available.
Again unlike Mwayi, they have received food from J-Life feeding program this month already. On the day of our visit in fact they were happily preparing porridge for the children. Generally this will be the only food the children get / have at nursery. Snacks aren’t often provided for the children to bring.
The nursery is empty! Apart from the existing chalkboard, there are no resources to use, any tables / chairs and the floor is bare of any reed/ tarpaulin mat.

The routine is fluid, and depends on the children present on the day. Numbers vary. The children have been allocated by the community’s allocation committee. They are mainly orphans and / or most vulnerable.
