Seibo 2026 : Our Charity&Business Updates
Date:2026.04.13

Malawi, located in Southeast Asia, is where Seibo conducts its primary school feeding programs.
In recent years, Malawi has made remarkable strides in expanding access to education, with the net primary school enrollment rate reaching approximately 91% in 2023.
At first glance, the vibrant classrooms and ever-growing number of students suggest a bright future for education.
However, when examining these figures from the perspective of social policy and data analysis, many challenges remain.

In this article, we will discuss the structural challenges facing Malawi’s education system and our new approach to fundamental transformation: the synergy of “School Meals × BPO (Business Process Outsourcing).”

1. Sustaining Education: Seibo’s Goals and the Current Challenges
In Malawi, graduating from primary school is a significant challenge.
The greatest concern indicated by data is the low completion rate of primary education:

・Primary school completion rate: 48%
・Lower secondary school completion rate: 23%
・Upper secondary school completion rate: 15%

Why do so many children drop out?
One background factor is that the enrollment rate for early childhood education remains at only 34%.
In a country where roughly 5.6 million people are of primary school age or younger, providing early childhood education and creating a community where children can attend school safely is vital.
This is why Seibo provides school meals to CBCCs (Community Based Childcare Centres) in collaboration with local mothers and community members.

Above all, there is “overwhelming poverty.”
The primary school completion rate for the poorest demographic is a mere 11%.
Seibo implements the “Seibo Kids” project, visiting impoverished households and holding “allocation meetings” to identify the most vulnerable families. Through this, we provide support that allows children to attend nursery school for free and successfully transition into primary school.

3. School Meals Create a “Foundation for Learning”: The Seibo Approach
The factors preventing children from attending school are complex and intertwined within their communities.
However, Seibo focuses on the simplest and most fundamental need: food.
School meals serve as the “foundation” necessary for children to remain in the classroom and focus on their studies.

Currently, Seibo provides daily school meals to over 22,000 children in Malawi.

The provision of a warm meal encourages parents to send their children to school and allows students to focus on lessons without the distraction of hunger.
School meals are the most direct and reliable investment to improve attendance and overcome the learning crisis.
Seibo provides meals to approximately 55 nurseries and primary schools. In the Northern region, our efforts have been strengthened through a grant from the Embassy of Japan in Malawi and increased coordination with the government.

By facilitating enrollment and graduation from primary school, we help children acquire the basic skills and social status necessary to thrive in society.

*Starting in May, we plan to add detailed data regarding nursery school profiles and impact measurement.

4. Beyond School Meals: “BPO Services” Connecting Future Talent with Business
Children raised on school meals eventually grow into adults and enter society.
Without “quality employment” to welcome them, the cycle of poverty cannot be broken.

To address this, Seibo has partnered with Beetech, a Malawian IT/BPO company, to launch “Seibo Impact Services” for companies in Japan and around the world.

5. Toward a Partnership that Transforms the World’s Future (Full proposal for companies here)
Malawi is part of an Africa that is seeing explosive population growth.
The young people growing up here are not merely “recipients of aid.”
They are the “future human capital” who will support global business and lead a new era.

Seibo’s school meal program in Malawi can support a nursery school of at least 20 children for approximately 500 yen a day—enough for everyone to have breakfast.
Furthermore, 60,000 yen can provide meals for an entire year.

-Collaboration with Japaense Schools for Social Business

We are currently running a project where Japanese educational institutions or corporations can sponsor a specific nursery school in Malawi.
For schools, this process connects to social business learning and international aid practice. For corporations, it serves as a tangible realization of CSR and SDGs.
The Malawian specialty coffee we use for fundraising is sourced through collaboration with local farms and trading companies, providing educational value to the Japanese students who handle it and value to the Japanese market.

This learning connects Malawian support to the development of Japan’s next generation, creating a bridge between the two nations.

Finally, Seibo Impact Services (BPO) aims to create “Creating Shared Value (CSV)” that goes beyond simple outsourcing or donations.
Your company’s business growth directly builds Malawi’s future. We seek to build partnerships rooted in this Purpose.
