Seibo formed a student staff team in the Kansai region, influenced in part by the momentum created by the Kansai–Osaka Expo, which concluded in October 2025.
Representing this Kansai team, two university students visited Tokyo.
The main purpose of this visit was to meet with Ataka Trading Co., Ltd., who generously provide us with coffee beans.
Here, we would like to share a record of this visit, written from the students’ perspective.

Visit to Ataka Trading by Kansai Seibo Staff
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, members of the Kansai Seibo team visited Ataka Trading to report on their activities in the Kansai region to President Araki.
Two representatives attended on behalf of Kansai Seibo, sharing reports and asking questions related to events and educational activities.
President Araki kindly explained the current situation and challenges facing the coffee industry. Through this discussion, we gained a deeper understanding of how many people are involved in producing a single cup of coffee, the hardships they face, and how they support one another along the way.
We felt that this perspective will be extremely valuable when planning future events and educational programs, and that sharing these stories is one of the most important aspects of our ongoing activities.
During the Q&A session, President Araki also carefully answered children’s questions such as, “Why does coffee from Malawi come by ship?”
Reflecting on this experience, we were reminded of the importance of continuing to expand Kansai Seibo’s activities and helping more people learn about coffee from Malawi.

Future Developments
Through this visit by the Kansai staff, our ties with staff based mainly in Tokyo and the greater Kanto region grew even stronger, allowing us to truly feel the strength of Seibo’s nationwide network.
On the way back from Tokyo, the team also visited Nagoya and Okazaki in the Chubu region, building meaningful connections with staff in the Tokai area (Shizuoka and Aichi).
Moving forward, we hope to continue expanding Seibo’s reach, and we sincerely appreciate the continued support and cooperation of everyone in the Kansai region.
