Activity Highlight Featured: On-Site Sales Experience in Kagurazaka

The article highlights details of the program where high school students took to the storefronts in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, to sell specialty coffee from Malawi, East Africa.
Prior to the event, students participated in online sessions to learn why school meal support is needed in Malawi and how to effectively communicate the product’s value before taking on the challenge in person.
On the day of the event, they faced real-world challenges—such as calling out to passersby and communicating in English—and continuously adapted their approaches.

As a result, they achieved remarkable success by raising enough funds in just a single day of sales to provide school meals for 10 Malawian children for an entire year. These activities continue to this day, and during one sales event in the summer of 2026, students even raised enough to support one year of school meals for approximately 30 children.
Selling products with their own hands and seeing the direct impact cross the ocean to feed children proved to be a valuable opportunity for the students to gain a tangible sense of making a real difference in addressing global issues.

Our Ongoing Initiatives with Rizapro: The Evolving Fusion of “Learning × International Aid”

Seibo and Rizapro have continuously collaborated on a variety of programs tailored to students’ stages of growth and interests.

Summer 2024: Summer Program for Elementary, Junior High, and High School Students
Elementary students learned about Malawian culture and the impact of school meals (15 yen per meal), participating in a workshop to draw custom product labels.
High school students developed comprehensive sales strategies, wrote blog posts, and conducted in-person sales, directly contributing to substantial school meal support.

2. Spring 2025: Problem-Solving Marketing & In-Person Practice
After online preparatory discussions, students engaged in hands-on sales practice. Upon completion, Seibo awarded them official certificates of completion recognizing their achievements and personal growth.
This project served as meaningful career education, fostering skills applicable to university entrance examinations (such as comprehensive selection exams) and future academic pursuits.

3. Summer 2025: Simultaneous Events in Omiya & Shibuya Across Different Locations
Events were held simultaneously at “Bibly Omiya” (featuring exhibitions, quizzes, and coffee tastings) and in “Shibuya” (conducting street campaigns where many international visitors pass by).
This provided students with an advanced practical learning experience in adjusting marketing approaches based on differences in target demographics and location dynamics.

Japanese Students’ “Learning” Becomes “Nourishment” for Malawian Children
100% of profits and donations from Warm Hearts Coffee Club, Seibo’s charity coffee brand, go directly toward funding school meals in Malawi.
Extracurricular activities with Rizapro extend far beyond mere “volunteer experience.”
By approaching social issues through business and marketing perspectives and growing as individuals through trial and error, Japanese youth actively generate the power that shapes a brighter future for children in Malawi.

For Seibo, it is a true honor to contribute not only to educational support in Malawi, but also to the personal and academic development of the Japanese junior high and high school students who represent our future.

How to Support Us & Collaboration Opportunities
The specialty coffee and tea from Malawi sold by students on the streets are available for anyone to purchase at Seibo’s official charity shop.
