Ritsumeikan University in Shiga : BKC Welcome Day!
Date:2026.05.25

We recently participated in “BKC Welcome Day” held at Ritsumeikan University’s Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC)!

For this event, we had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate and work alongside the inspiring students and staff from the university’s Service Learning Center. The campus was buzzing with energy, bringing together numerous organizations, businesses, and local government representatives from around the Kyoto and Shiga areas. It was a fantastic chance to connect with various initiatives dedicated to regional revitalization and international support. We at Seibo are incredibly grateful to have been a part of this vibrant community!

Together with the students, we sold Malawian coffee and tea. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised enough funds to provide approximately 3,000 school meals for children in Malawi!

After the event, we gathered at the Service Learning Center for a reflection meeting. We had a highly productive discussion about our achievements and explored ways to build on this momentum for future activities, making it a truly meaningful time.
Moving forward, Seibo plans to support student groups like this by providing impact reports that better visualize the results of their activities. Our goal is to create tailored reports that students can utilize for their academic research and project presentations.

We were also delighted to connect with representatives from “Paradeiro,” an organization that operates local Kodomo Shokudo (children’s cafeterias). This encounter has given us a wonderful opportunity to expand Seibo’s ongoing support for children in Japan into Shiga Prefecture.

At our booth, we featured coffee drip bags adorned with illustrations drawn during Seibo’s workshops. We also hosted a creative sand art activity using recycled coffee grounds left over from making our tasting samples!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the wonderful encounters and connections we made. Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by!
