On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Makoto Yamada from Seibo had the honor of speaking at the 990th regular meeting of the Kyoto Kiwanis Club.
During the meeting, he introduced Seibo’s school meal support program in Malawi, a landlocked country in southeastern Africa. Malawi is a young nation, with approximately half of its population made up of children. Under the mission of “providing school meals to every child who is hungry,” we emphasized our ongoing efforts to deliver nutritious meals at a cost of about 15 yen per meal, working in close collaboration with local communities.
School meals not only support children’s learning but also nurture the future of entire communities—they are truly an “investment in the future.” We were able to connect our work with Kiwanis’ mission: Improving the world by one child and one community at once.
The program also featured a presentation by Tamaki Nishida, the Kansai Student Representative, who shared her initiatives in fair trade and children’s cafeterias. It was an inspiring opportunity to witness how the circle of support is expanding across generations.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this valuable opportunity possible. We will continue to cherish and advance activities that bring smiles to children’s faces.
