On August 23, 2025, Seibo participated in the event “Japan Malawi Forum 2025”, hosted by the Japan-Malawi Association. During the event, we had the opportunity to present our activities to many stakeholders connected to Malawi, including Her Excellency Nancy Tembo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was visiting Japan for TICAD.
The program included panel sessions by individuals deeply engaged with Malawi as well as presentations of research conducted in the country. These sessions provided valuable insights directly linked to Malawi’s social realities and people’s daily lives, allowing us to deepen our understanding of the country from multiple perspectives.
We also had the chance to connect with former Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers who served in Malawi, individuals who have visited the country, and representatives of NGOs and social enterprises currently active there. Building these connections and sharing experiences from diverse perspectives will be a great asset for our future work.
At the reception, we also enjoyed nsima, Malawi’s staple food made from maize flour, which allowed us to experience the culture of Malawi through its cuisine.
Overall, the gathering was a very meaningful occasion, offering Seibo both valuable learning and new encounters that will help us expand our activities going forward.
