In October 2025, a special charity event was held at Bunkyo Gakuin University (near the University of Tokyo) in collaboration between the children’s community groups of Mukogaoka and Hakusan and NPO Seibo.
The event aimed to “connect the local community with the world,” bringing together elementary and junior high school students, university volunteers, and international interns for a shared cause.
At the venue, visitors enjoyed and purchased Malawian tea, coffee, and chocolate, all directly linked to school meal support in Malawi.
The highlight of the day was the first-ever sale in Japan of Malawian chocolate, produced in small rural communities of southern Africa. The rich, authentic flavor delighted visitors while raising awareness about fair and sustainable trade.
The tea and coffee, provided by Seibo’s Warm Hearts Coffee Club, are part of an initiative where all proceeds support school meals for children in Malawi.
Local students actively took part in the event — from running the sales booths and explaining the story behind each product, to inviting guests to learn about Malawi and global food issues. Through these hands-on experiences, they discovered how their small actions can make a global difference.
Adding an international touch, intern students from the UK also joined the event, supporting the children and leading discussions on the meaning of global cooperation and social responsibility.
Their collaboration created a vibrant atmosphere of learning and friendship across cultures and languages.
Through this event, a meaningful connection was formed between school meal support for children in Malawi and community-based learning for children in Japan.
With every cup of tea, every bar of chocolate, and every smile shared, participants experienced the power of small acts creating global impact — a true embodiment of “Warm Hearts” in action.
