Hachiyama Junior High School in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, held a Malawi coffee sales event titled “Hachi Café” at a business tower in central Tokyo.
Although this was their first attempt, the students participated enthusiastically, and with strong support from the local community, they made a significant contribution to the success of the sales.
The proceeds are equivalent to approximately 7,200 school lunches in Malawi, and many students reportedly gained confidence through this experience and expressed a desire to continue the activity in the future.
We will continue to provide opportunities for junior high school students to learn about international cooperation and social business in a practical, hands-on way.
