Coronavirus and Malawi

With more than 100,000 cases in 118 countries, WHO has officially declared the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, a pandemic. Countries such as Malawi are especially vulnerable towards such aggressive disease because the country is simply not equipped with adequate medical facilities and personnel. Thankfully by the time this article was written there are no cases of coronavirus reported in Malawi yet. However it is still highly important for all countries to take extra precaution to protect themselves from the virus outbreak. In rural Malawi, everyone is still going on their days perusal. There has also been a lack of intervention from the government as presidential announcements are mostly disregarded and there are little enforcement. Moreover, Malawi Nation reported that there is a significant lack of information in regards to the virus among the people in Malawi. Their interviews with some residents revealed that aside from not knowing that they are in the midst of a virus outbreak, they admit that they cannot afford to provide themselves with basic hygiene items such as soap.
