Experience Malawi through Impact Lesson
Date:2026.07.09

In 2026, we at Seibo are thrilled to offer an advanced cultural exchange experience, connecting you with young Malawians at the Beehive business campus, a local vocational training center we collaborate with!

Introducing our “Impact Lessons”—a unique opportunity for English conversation and cultural exchange that directly leads to local employment in Malawi!

Today, we’d like to share some feedback from our participants and give you a glimpse into what these lessons are like!
English Conversation & Cultural Experience

A high school student recently took a lesson to practice English and experience Malawian culture.
While they already knew about Malawi through selling Malawian coffee at their school and attending a Seibo lecture, they hadn’t yet had the chance to speak directly with locals.
During the lesson, they communicated in English, introduced themselves, and shared their respective countries’ customs, which helped deepen their mutual understanding.
The local language, Chichewa, also made an appearance during the chat, and the student even learned how to do a simple self-introduction in Chichewa!

Furthermore, they were able to discuss various topics about Malawi in English, making it a fantastic opportunity to take in a lot of new information.

Local Language Lessons

A staff member from Mobell, our UK-based corporate sponsor, recently took a Chichewa language lesson.
They learned basic greetings and everyday phrases, and the Malawian teachers were incredibly vibrant and enthusiastic while teaching.
These local language lessons aren’t just a cultural experience; we also highly recommend them for those who are actually planning to visit Malawi.

University students with an interest in international aid and Seibo’s activities, our volunteer members, and individuals who discovered Malawi at the Expo have also joined our lessons.
We’ve received wonderful feedback, with participants saying things like, “It deepened my connection with Africa,” and “I could truly feel the gentle and warm-hearted nature of the Malawian people.”

Group Lessons

We also offer lessons for small groups!
In these sessions, a Malawian teacher leads the class and teaches everyone about their country.
Based on this, participants ask questions and brainstorm activities they can do together with Seibo’s staff in Japan.
The classes then develop into sessions where students think about what actions they can take from Japan, learn more about Malawi, and consider how they can help support the school meal programs that nourish the children who will build the next generation.

Our lessons directly contribute to employment for the people of Malawi and help fund our school meal programs.
By nurturing children through school meals and expanding these lessons, we are helping to create more future job opportunities.
We highly encourage everyone to give these lessons a try!
