Recently, I participated in “Youth Africa Connect,” which was held in Yokohama! This event aimed to deepen understanding of Africa and was also an official partner project of TICAD9.
The venue was JICA Yokohama, and with free admission, many people gathered.

Event Highlights
At the venue, various exhibitions and projects related to Africa were held.

Talk Sessions:
Key figures active as pioneers in Africa spoke about their connections to Africa, the challenges facing Africa, and the support we can provide. There was also a lecture on the civil war in Sudan, which was very informative.

Fashion Show:
The glamorous fashion show incorporating African culture was energizing just to watch.
NPO “ALAZI” Accessory Sales: “ALAZI” sells handmade earrings to eliminate poverty in Africa.
Being able to work with other NPOs was a great experience.

Coffee Sales:
With the cooperation of 9 volunteers, we sold coffee.
Thanks to everyone, we were able to collect donations of 27,000 yen! Thank you very much.
We were also able to connect with other NPOs, and we hope that this will lead to future collaborations.

“Youth Africa Connect” was a good opportunity to learn about the current situation in Africa and to think about what we can do.
